EV Air Conditioning in Saudi Heat: Maintenance Tips That Save Range

Your EV's AC can draw 2-5 kW of power, depending on the outside temperature and the cabin temperature you set. On a 40°C+ Saudi summer day, this can reduce your range by 15-25%. Knowing this helps you plan your trips and charging.

Pre-conditioning helps the most. Most modern EVs let you cool the cabin while the car is still connected to the charger, so the AC energy comes from the grid, not your battery. Use your vehicle's app to start cooling 10-15 minutes before you drive. This one habit can save 5-10% of your range on hot days.

Replace the cabin filter often in Saudi Arabia. Desert dust, sand and city pollution clog cabin filters faster than in most countries. A clogged filter makes the AC work harder, so it uses more energy and cools less. Replace your cabin filter every 10,000-15,000 km or every 12 months, whichever comes first.
