Buying a Used EV in Saudi Arabia? Here's Why You Need a Pre-Purchase Inspection

The used electric vehicle market in Saudi Arabia is growing fast. Thousands of Teslas, BYDs and other EVs have now passed their first owner, so there are good deals to be found. There are also cars that will cost you a lot after you buy them. A professional pre-purchase inspection can save you from an expensive mistake.
Battery health matters more than anything else when buying a used EV. A battery replacement is the most expensive single repair an EV owner can face, so a battery health check is the most important step before you buy. At EVS, our pre-purchase inspection includes a full battery health check that measures state of health (SOH), capacity degradation, cell balance and charging performance. We can tell you exactly how much life is left in the battery.
Accident history matters in a different way for EVs. In a traditional car, you might overlook minor body damage. In an EV, even a collision that looks minor can damage high-voltage cables, the battery housing or safety systems that you can't see. Our inspection includes a full underbody scan for signs of earlier impact damage to the battery pack and high-voltage components.
Check the software and firmware too. Some used EVs are sold with outdated software, locked features or even aftermarket modifications that can cause problems. We check the software version, confirm that all features work, and look for modifications or worrying diagnostic codes.
Chinese EV imports need a closer look. Many used Zeekr, LiXiang and NIO vehicles in the Saudi market were first sold in China and then imported by third parties. Their specifications (voltage, charging standards, software language) may differ and need to be verified. Our inspection checks that all specifications have been properly converted for Saudi use.
